A 10-year-old boy is currently battling for his life following a brutal assault by his father in Diabene, a suburb of Sekondi in the Western Region.
The father, whose name has not yet been identified, has been accused of physically abusing his son by whipping the boy multiple times on his back, abdomen, and other parts of his body, resulting in severe bruises and wounds.
Preliminary reports indicate that the incident occurred after the child reportedly misplaced a key. The father allegedly attributed the incident to the boy’s stubbornness and lack of remorse.
Albert Yalley, the Assembly Member for the Diabene Electoral Area, has confirmed the incident.
He noted that upon learning of the child’s abuse, he took immediate action to ensure the boy received medical treatment at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital.

Meanwhile, the father has been arrested following the inhumane incident.
He is currently at the Sekondi Police Station, as investigations into the matter continue.
