EC to publish polling station results on its website

The Electoral Commission (EC) has disclosed that it will publish polling station results on its website for the first time during the 2024 elections.

According to the Deputy Chairperson of the EC, Dr Bossman Asare, this is part of the steps to ensure transparency in the elections.

“We will make sure that the polling station results are published on our websites way before people who want to go to court. They want to test the law and be sure to establish what actually happened at the polling station. It is something the commission has discussed and we are going to be doing it,” he said.

Dr Asare said this on Sunday, September 15, after the African Union High Representative for Silencing the Guns, Dr Mohamed Ibn Chambas, called on the commission to take immediate action to restore the trust of stakeholders ahead of the upcoming elections.

Dr Chambas said publishing the results on the EC website would greatly advance and enhance the credibility and transparency of the elections.

In response, Dr Asare said the results would only go live on the website after all other polling station results have been received.

“Since it is the first time the commission is doing it, we will ensure that once we have the full results of all polling stations, then we go ahead and do it,” he said in a discussion on Joy News.
