A group of newly posted teachers from the 2022 batch of College of Education graduates is planning to protest at the Ghana Education Service (GES) headquarters today, Monday, June 23.
Their demonstration is in response to the significant delays in receiving staff IDs and over ten months without salary payments.
The group, comprising 784 teachers, reported that they have not received any compensation since their appointment date of August 1, 2024, despite their persistent efforts to seek clarity and receive assurances from GES representatives.
In an interview, Solomon Opoku Gyan, one of the teachers, expressed the urgent nature of their situation, highlighting the financial burdens and lack of transparency they’ve encountered.
“We’ve worked for 10 months now without pay. We don’t even have staff IDs. Every time we visit GES, they offer excuses. It’s too much, we’re suffering,” he stated.
He also revealed that the ongoing delay has had grave consequences for some members, with reports of several facing severe hardships.
The teachers are, therefore, calling for immediate action from GES to address their issues and finalise their employment status.
