Ayew soars to perfect start with Leicester City
Leicester City’s new signing, Jordan Ayew, made a stellar debut start for the club, scoring a goal and providing an assist in their 4-0 victory over Tranmere Rovers in the Carabao Cup.
Ayew opened the scoring with a stunning strike from outside the penalty box in the 38th minute, before setting up Wilfred Ndidi for the team’s third goal.
He was deployed as the central forward in a three-man attack, filling in for the absent Jamie Vardy.
Ayew’s impressive performance comes just a week after joining Leicester City from Crystal Palace on a two-year deal worth eight million pounds including add-ons.
He had previously made his debut off the bench in a 2-1 defeat to Fulham at Craven Cottage.
The Ghana Black Stars forward’s fine form is timely, with the team set to face Angola and Niger in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers on September 5 and 9 respectively.
