Election 2024: Certified voters register expected in November— EC

The certified voter register for the 2024 general elections will be ready and made available to the public within the first week of November, the Electoral Commission (EC) has announced.

The chairperson for the Commission, Jean Adukwei Mensa, revealed this during an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting.

In her address, Mrs Mensa assured stakeholders that the Commission remains fully committed to ensuring the accuracy of the voter roll for the 2024 general election.

The EC indicated that the register will include all eligible voters who registered during the exercises conducted in 2020, 2023, and 2024.

Since the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) raised concerns over the voters’ register, the Electoral Commission has been working to address discrepancies and ensure that the final register is reliable for the upcoming elections.

“Over the last two weeks we have spent our energies to clean the PVR to ensure the information presented on the register is accurate. Simply put, we have worked to ensure that every applicant who registered in 2020, 2023, and 2024 is in the voters’ register”.

“We are confident that the revised PVR that we present starting today is a marked departure from the register we presented during the exhibition exercise, as largely all the discrepancies presented to date have been fixed,” She noted while addressing the stakeholders at the IPAC meeting.

Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission (EC) is expected to re-exhibit the Provisional Voters’ Register (PVR) from October 14 to 19, 2024.

This initiative follows a constructive meeting with political parties and other stakeholders at an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting on October 1, 2024.
