The Ghana Education Service (GES) has launched an investigation into a troubling incident at Kumasi Academy, where a female student was physically assaulted by her colleagues.
This comes a day after the Ghana Police Service assured the public that an investigation is ongoing to apprehend the perpetrators.
The incident, which has sparked widespread outrage came to the limelight on Monday, August 12, 2024, and has since raised concerns about student discipline and safety.
According to the Municipal Director of Education, Sampson Anawuni, the GES has set up a committee to investigate the matter and ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
Anawuni described the incident as an abuse of a girl-child and emphasized the need for swift action to address the issue.
The incident occurred when a group of students accused the female student of engaging in a sexual act and physically manhandled her across the school compound.
The 31-second clip, which has been circulating on social media, prompted calls for action from parents and the general public.
Meanwhile, GES has assured that it will take appropriate action to ensure the safety and well-being of all students.
