Guru disqualified from UG SRC Presidential race

The Electoral Commission of the University of Ghana Student Representative Council has disqualified Ghanaian rapper Guru from the presidential race.

The Commission in a statement cited Article 30, which indicates that candidates who qualify to be elected must be residents of a hall on campus and must qualify to contest for a JCR position in their hall.

Guru and his running mate, Jeffery Adu Yeboah, have therefore been disqualified from the race after they confirmed during vetting that they are not residents of any hall.

Initially, there were anticipations that Guru and his running mate were one of the people tipped to win the 2024 elections.

The rapper has mounted a spirited campaign on campus, with visibility everywhere on the school’s campus indicating his readiness to make history.

This comes as a surprise to the rapper, who believes he has what it takes to change the fortunes of students at the University of Ghana.
