Mohammed Kudus registers season’s debut goal contribution in West Ham win
Ghana Black Stars midfielder Mohammed Kudus has bagged his first assist in the 2024-2025 season.
Kudus assisted Jarrod Bowen’s goal in the 88th minute when his shot attempt which looked on target, inadvertently hit Bowen in the chest area and ended up in the net to give West Ham a 1-0 win over AFC Bournemouth.
The win puts West Ham through to the third round of the Carabao Cup with the game played out at the London Stadium.
After a drab first half that had both teams struggle to create chances, the intensity of the game picked up with the introduction of regular starters like Justin Kluivert for Bournemouth and Lucas Paqueta and Emerson Palmieri for West Ham.
Kudus came off the bench in the 74th minute and aside grabbing the assist, had 15 touches, successfully completed a dribble out of two attempts and won two of four ground duel attempts.
Fellow Ghana Black Stars player Antoine Semenyo also came off the bench and played 22 minutes. He completed nine of 10 passes accurately and had 16 touches.
Both players are expected to get called up to the Black Stars for upcoming 2025 AFCON qualifiers in September.
