The National Service Authority (NSA) has announced the release of PIN codes for 132,393 prospective national service personnel for the 2025/2026 service year.
This year’s codes cover graduates from 100 accredited tertiary institutions across the nation, marking a 26% decrease in submissions compared to the average over the past three years.
The NSA attributes this drop to strengthened validation protocols and the removal of “inflated or bogus submissions”.
For context, during the 2022/2023 service year, a total of 144,773 graduates were reported from 275 schools. In comparison, this year’s figures show a significant reduction to 132,393 graduates from only 100 institutions, representing a 36% fall in graduate submissions and a 63.6% reduction in the number of contributing schools.
Additionally, 3,597 graduates from 22 institutions have been excluded from this year’s mobilisation due to their schools not being recognised by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC). The NSA indicates that these graduates will be reconsidered only after valid accreditation evidence is provided.
“All institutional accreditation data referenced in this release has been validated by GTEC,” the NSA stated, urging institutions with expired accreditation to regularise their status within 30 days to avoid complications for their graduates.
Moreover, alongside the PIN codes for recognised institutions, codes for private applicants, namely Ghanaians who studied abroad, deferred, or defaulted, are currently undergoing final validation. Those affected should reach out to the NSA if they are unable to access their PINs by June 24.
Registration Process
Prospective service personnel are required to activate their PIN codes by paying GHS 40 at any ADB Bank branch or GHS 41 via MTN Mobile Money. The registration window will be open from June 17 to July 1, 2025, at https://smarthub.nss.gov.gh.
The 2025/2026 enrolment process will also incorporate new integrity checks, which include facial biometric verification against Ghana Card data and mandatory input of GhanaPost GPS addresses for location-based posting.
New Military Pre-Deployment Option
In a new initiative, the NSA has introduced a pilot Basic Military Training phase for select applicants prior to their national service deployment.
Graduates interested in this option may choose to participate during the registration process. Final postings will be confirmed after successful completion of the six-week training, ensuring that no placements are lost.
